Island Park’s 14th annual fun run is Saturday, July 3
ISLAND PARK — The All American Sawtelle Stampede has become a July
4th holiday tradition in Island Park — a fun and healthy way to kick
off a weekend of festivities.
Registration is now open for this year’s event, which includes a half
marathon run, a 10k run, a 5k run or walk, and a 1k youth run or walk.
Start time is 9 a.m. sharp on Saturday, July 3, immediately following a
brief patriotic program.
Sacks of golden U. S. dollars will be presented to the top overall male
and female finishers, and medals to the top male and female finishers
in each age group. All participants also receive a commemorative
tee-shirt and reusable tote bag filled with goodies. Water stations
along the course are decorated with a patriotic theme and feature music
to rev up the runners and walkers. Music is also played at the
start/finish area by Idaho Liquid Sound.
Sponsored by the Island Park Area Chamber of Commerce, the event is a
fundraiser for the Gem Community Team’s non-motorized trail project to
enhance and expand hiking and biking opportunities in the Island Park
area.
Everyone is invited to dress in patriotic red, white, and blue clothing, with a prize going to the most patriotic costume.
Teams of five or more people are also invited to participate. So far,
the Red Hat Mountain Mommas of Island Park has committed to forming a
team for the third year in a row.
Register for the All American Sawtelle Stampede on line here, or e-mail
Race Director, Connie Funkhouser, for a registration form. Teams cannot
register on line. Call Connie at 208.589-6987 or Elizabeth at
208.558.0267 for team registration rules, and if you have any questions. |
